A Principal with Coburn, Pete has been a leader of the firm for over 20 years. Pete has run projects which have won awards from the Colorado Sprawl Action Center, the Urban Land Institute, the City of Boulder, and Historic Boulder, among others. An accomplished Urban Planner and Designer, Pete helped spearhead the introduction of New Urbanist planning and principles in Colorado. He has taught at the University of Colorado, is a LEED AP, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Flatirons Chapter of the Habitat of Humanity. Pete has extensive experience in urban planning, mixed use neighborhoods and buildings, multifamily, affordable housing, breweries, commercial office, retail, custom homes, and mountain projects. Steel Yards, for which he was the lead planner and entitlement expert, was featured with a Smart Growth Hall of Fame award, and Yarmouth Way received the ULI Jack Kemp Workforce Housing National Model of Excellence award. Pete has won a Governor’s awards for Iris Hollow and a Historic Boulder award for the design of 1505 Pearl.
He has an undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado and a Master of Architecture degree from MIT. He a member of the AIA, holder of an NCARB Certificate and is a licensed architect in Colorado and South Carolina.
